Is This Shark-Jumping?

So Jediboy and I have been watching these commercials for the new 'Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe' game - MK vs. DC for the kool kids. I'm a bit underwhelmed based on the fact that I've never quite grokked the popularity of Mortal Kombat. I figure this title will be a success with lots of fanboys snapping up copies all the while piling on the posts in the appropriate IRC channels and discussion boards.

Then Jediboy asks me, "Who's more powerful - DC or Marvel guys?". I'm ashamed to admit I really don't know how to answer him. Sure, I darken Bruno's door from time to time, but I've only ever been a gadfly in the comic book world.

But I know guys who'l know The Truth. So what's The Truth guys?

I would refer you to this post on the Marvel vs. DC battles.

Even though I swear by Marvel, the physics of the DC world make them out to be so, so, so very much stronger. But that's because they aren't real.

First of all, the DC/MK game is a renter. Secondly, Midway Games is now in the shitter and may declare bankruptcy. So, not good times for them. I think they had a lot riding on this game, but I can't see it performing the miracle they were hoping for.

Right. Who is more powerful? Well, Superman is more powerful than anyone since he's been absorbing the yellow sunlight since 1938. I think Thor might be able to beat him with the magic bullshit, but that's about it. He's the man. Don't fuck with him.

Other than that, I'd go with Batman being a better fighter than Captain America, Power Girl is hotter than Wasp (R.I.P.), and it's bullshit Cassandra Brown isn't Robin. Which has nothing to do with the question at hand, but fuck it still pisses me off.

So if magic is the issue, how does Captain Marvel match up against Thor?

Oh my sweet fancy Moses, I am a geek. Finally.

That's a very good question. Thor is Thor, God of Thunder, can throw lightning bolts, is as strong --I believe this is the correct term--as fuck, and can control the weather.

Captain Marvel is a hodgepodge of the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles and the speed of Mercury. So, on paper, Captain Marvel should be able to beat Thor.

But Thor is a god, while Captain Marvel only has some of the characteristics of gods. (Unless we assume that Captain Marvel is a godling, with the potential of becoming a full out god one day. Is the then a form of Eternal or DC Comics variant thereof?)

As well, Thor has been Thor since the dawn of the Norse pantheon. Captain Marvel has only been around since Billy met the wizard, so again the question of experience comes into play.

So, strength? Thor.

Wisdom? Thor again.

Ability to bang wenches all night, drink gallons of wine with Heimdall and still kick the nuts off a Frost Giant? Thor.

So, until Captain Marvel gets laid and has his first hangover, (and achieves the wisdom such events transfer), I've gotta go with the Thor.

Okay, my turn. Who would be the DC comics equivalent of Emma Frost? I'm not talking psychic powers, I'm talking all out, unabashed tramp.

It really should be Power Girl. I think they are keeping her extreme trampiness a secret. I guess I would go with Catwoman. Like Emma, rich, confident, and always willing to take what she wants. And always the exotic locales, exotic diamonds to steal; you know the girl gets around. Or she used to. Is her heart back in her body yet?

No, wait, it's Etta Candy. Yup.

Catwoman...I didn't think of her. Started off as a villain, is now more of a heroine who is sleeping with an iconic hero. No, wait. Cyclops isn't iconic. He's a dick.

And yes, her heart is back where it belongs. Her revenge was one of the best parts of Heart of Hush.

Holy Crap! You can click on your key words thingy and actually find related posts! I thought that was a spot to put random ejaculations...insert joke here...not a serious search term. I'd say that I will take it seriously from here on in, but you've met me now, and you know that won't happen.
