You have to be 'a certain age' to remember Commander Tom. He was a staple on WKBW (Buffalo, channel 7) for about a hundred years or so - first on Rocketship 7, followed by The Commander Tom Show.
Even if you never crossed paths with the Commander, have a look at the following clip from his old show. I can't decide if he's bored, or quietly earnest about his work. Either way, watch for a particularly uncomfortable exchange (about 1 minute in) between the Commander and a young fan on the topic of cigarette companies. It's weird.

Time for Gifts
'Fits and starts' pretty much describes my blogging efforts lately. I have simply been feeling overwhelmed by 100 other things lately - with the Must Do and Like To Do camps often in mortal, bloody opposition. Blue skies are ahead, I think. That's what I have to believe for sanity's sake.
While I simply lack time right now, I feel obligated - to myself if no one else - to offer a gift or two. The simple truth is that I've been relying on the fruitful efforts of other Bloggites to keep me entertained in my passive stupor the last few weeks.
